HBO's Scenes From a Marriage has found its married couple.
On Thursday, Oscar Isaac and Michelle Williams were confirmed as the leads attached to the HBO miniseries. Variety reported the news, revealing the accomplished actors as the husband and wife in the forthcoming remake of the 1973 Swedish drama miniseries.
Scenes From a Marriage cast: Oscar Isaac & Michelle Williams
Scener ur ett äktenskap originally aired on Swedish television in six one-hour episodes in 1973. From legendary director Ingmar Bergman, the miniseries was highly acclaimed for its intimate yet cold portrayal of married life and a relationship breakdown.
Erland Josephson and Liv Ullmann starred in the 1973 series — which, in an edited-down version, was also exhibited as a feature film that won many awards including a Golden Globe.

According to Variety, HBO has plans to "re-examine the show's depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple." Enter Isaac and Williams.
Isaac, 41, is perhaps best known for his role as "Poe Dameron" in the new Star Wars trilogy. He's also received acclaim for work in films such as Inside Llewyn Davis, Ex Machina and the HBO miniseries Show Me a Hero.
Williams, meanwhile, is a four-time Oscar nominee and two-time Golden Globe winner. The 39-year-old actress, who recently welcomed her second child, is known for roles in My Week with Marilyn, Blue Valentine, Brokeback Mountain, and Dawson's Creek.
Hagai Levi will write, direct, and executive produce. He previously worked with HBO on Our Boys and is known for work with Showtime's The Affair. Isaac and Williams are also on as executive producers for the miniseries.
This is a project to watch for down the road! It's reportedly been in the works for several years now, but this is the first news of any casting details.
