Twelve years after the beloved series vanished from our screens, Disney Channel has waved its wand for a pilot of a new 'Wizards of Waverly Place' series. David Henrie (32) is ready to cast his charm again as Justin Russo, with Gomez reprising her role as the mischievous Alex Russo.
New faces, same Wizarding place
While the rest of the Russo crew's return remains shrouded in mystery, fresh talent is set to dazzle. Janice LeAnn Brown will portray Billie, a potent young wizard, with Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo, Justin's son, and Mimi Gianopulos as his wife, Giada. The pilot is penned by the magical duo Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, with Andy Fickman at the director's helm.
The sequel teases a "mysterious incident at WizTech," compelling Justin to dust off his wizard hat and embrace his past to safeguard the future of the Wizard World. With a powerful young wizard knocking on his door, it's time for Justin to teach new tricks!
Gomez and Henrie have enchanted the internet with their Instagram posts, teasing fans with a glimpse of the script and nostalgic snaps, hinting at the magic to come in 2024. "The Russo's are excited to become a part of your family, once again, but we've grown ," Henrie shared.
A legacy of enchantment
The original 'Wizards of Waverly Place' series, which ended with a magical finale in 2012, saw the Russo siblings vying for the title of family wizard. While Alex triumphed, Justin and Max (Jake T. Austin) also found their happy endings.
