It was by far one of the most tragic deaths in TV history. At the end of the 11th season of Grey's Anatomy, "Dr. Derek Shepherd" (Patrick Dempsey) got into a vicious car accident and sadly passed away. "Shepherd" left behind his wife "Meredith Grey" (Ellen Pompeo) and his kids. Fans were so shocked that they even started a petition to get Dempsey's character back on the air.

Even "Edie Britt's" death on the show Desperate Housewives was a huge shock for fans in general. The real estate agent became popular for her sassy remarks. Nobody could do the dirty laundry like she did! While she was fleeing desperately from her mentally troubled husband, "Dave Williams" (Neal McDonough), her neighbor "Orson Hodge" (Kyle MacLachlan) suddenly appeared on the street. "Britt'" lost control of her car and crashed into a pole. While coming out of the car, she was hit by an electric shock which ultimately killed her. She died surrounded by her friends.

When "Ally McBeal's" (Calista Flockhart) childhood sweetheart "Billy Thomas" (Gil Bellows) unexpectedly died in Ally McBeal fans of the show were completely devasted. "Thomas" died from a brain tumor and his passsing emotionally destroyed "Ally". During his funeral, she gave a an emotional speech, even though the last words he said were that he loved "Georgia".

For three long seasons, the popular series Charmed revolved around three sisters: "Prue" (Shannen Doherty), "Piper" (Holly Marie Combs), and "Phoebe" (Alyssa Milano). Nevertheless, Shannen Doherty has kicked off the show due to an alleged fight she had with the producers. Shannen Doherty has a history of clashing with the cast and producers of the shows she has been cast in. Her character, "Prue", died while fighting a demon. The killer threw the oldest of the bunch out the window where she lay fatally injured. The group's guardian "Leo" (Brian Krause) who usually always heals the girls, was too late to help "Prue". He first helped "Piper" and therefore couldn't help "Prue" on time.

Fans everywhere burst into tears after watching this character pass away. "Denny Duquette" (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), from the hit series Grey's Anatomy, died after his heart transplant at Seattle Grace Hospital. The love of his life, "Dr. Isobel Stevens" (Katherine Heigl) was always by his side and he even proposed to her just before he died and she had already said yes...

The loss of  "Angel" (David Boreanaz) on 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' was difficult for fans to cope with. Shortly before his demise, he confessed his love to "Buffy" (Sarah Michelle Gellar). With a heavy heart, he had to ram a sword in his chest to eliminate the evil. "Angel" was missed so much by his fans, that he got his own spin-off series.

Anthony Edwards played "Mark Greene" for the better part of 8 seasons in the hit series ER. After suffering from cancer for an extended period of time, "Mark" eventually succumbed to the disease. Sadly, he had thought that he had eventually won his fight against cancer. "Greene" died in his wife and daughter's arms with his last sight directed towards the ocean. A sad day for all ER fans.

The death of "George O'Malley" (T.R. Knight) on Grey's Anatomy was a dramatic and heartbreaking one as well. Fans didn't know that their favorite character was on "Meredith Grey's" operating table in the beginning. "George" was run over by a bus and couldn't be identified until wrote his nickname into the palm of "Meredith's" hand. Her screams can still be heard today.

Two and a Half Men just never was the same without "Charlie Harper" (Charlie Sheen). "Charlie" was run over by an oncoming subway in Paris. His stalker, "Rose" (Melanie Lynskey) was a possible suspect when she returned to the show as a widow. Fans were given some form of hope when they found out that "Rose" had been keeping "Charlie" hostage in her basement the entire time. In the series finale, we see "Charlie" standing outside his house again - unfortunately, he is then killed by a falling piano...

Dominic Monaghan's character, "Charlie Pace", died a real hero's death on the hit series LOST. Our hero died during a risky attempt to enable radio communication for the rest of the people on the island. Before "Pace" drowned, he was able to deliver an important message to his friends which in return brought them to safety.
