• 'When Calls The Heart' is a Hallmark show
  • It is going into its tenth season
  • HERE are some facts about the show

The show is a heartwarming watch and is already the Hallmark channel's longest-running show ever. In fact, it's eleventh season has already been greenlit, even as the tenth one is hitting the airwaves. Life in the small mining town is filled with challenges. And here are some some facts about the beloved Hallmark show that you probably didn't know.

This Hallmark show really hits the spot

The show itself is based on Janette Oke's book series titled 'Canadian West' which starts with the first novel entitled 'When Calls the Heart'The cast includes several seasoned actors you've probably seen elsewhere. Erin Krakow acted in 'Army Wives', Lori Loughlin was known as "Aunt Becky" on 'Full House', and Jack Wagner made a name for himself on 'General Hospital and Melrose Place'

Many have wondered about where the show is actually set. While the gorgeous village of Coal Valley is a made-up place in rural Canada, the show is actually filmed in Vancouver, BC. "It's God's country," Lori once told 'Metro News', and it seems to be quite perfect for the show. "The mountains and the set they've built are extraordinary. The costumes we get to wear help you with setting the right tone. You don't have to use a lot of your imagination because it's right there visually for you to see," Lori said. The show is just a one in a long line of TV productions that shoot in the city.
