Michael Landon: "We never imagined it would last this long."

Melissa Gilbert, who, as "Laura Ingalls" had always looked to her father "Charles" for advice, grew up on the show over the years. She even started her own family on the show, as Landon told the New York Times in a 1984 interview.

"I didn't think a married woman should still be coming to her father for advice," Landon said. "When we started this show, we never imagined it would last this long."
