Following his return to the United Kingdom, Prince Harry has made his intentions clear: He wants to repair his strained relationship with the royal family.

In an interview with GQ magazine, the 42-year-old Duke of Sussex opened up about the tensions involving King Charles III and Prince William. "There are some battles that have been fought, necessarily so. But hopefully we can all draw a line under that," Harry said in the interview, which was recorded in September and published on October 20.

The prince also expressed optimism about the future, suggesting that everyone involved, including members of his family and parts of the British press, should try to move beyond the conflicts of recent years.

Prince Harry Opens Up About His Family Rift

During the interview, Harry reflected on how family disagreements are something many people can relate to. He spoke about stories of siblings falling out and relationships between parents and children breaking down, drawing parallels with his own family situation.

When asked whether he regretted the distance that had developed between him and his relatives, Harry reportedly acknowledged that he did. However, he emphasized that he remained determined to find a way forward.

Harry and Meghan Return to the U.K. After Six Years

In late August, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the United Kingdom with their children, Archie and Lilibet, after spending several years living in California.

The couple stepped back from their roles as senior working royals in early 2020. Their departure was followed by a series of interviews in which they made serious allegations about their experiences within the royal family.

Speaking to GQ, Harry expressed his happiness about living closer to his relatives again while acknowledging that some family relationships still needed repairing.

King Charles Clarifies Harry and Meghan's Royal Status

Despite the Sussexes' return to Britain, their official position within the monarchy reportedly remains unchanged.

In early September, King Charles III clarified that Harry and Meghan would not resume their roles as working members of the royal family.

According to an official letter, the couple would continue to be treated as private citizens rather than active representatives of the monarchy. They would also not use the styles "His Royal Highness" or "Her Royal Highness."

The decision reinforced that their move back to the United Kingdom did not signal a return to royal duties.

Was Prince Harry Taking a Swipe at William?

While Harry has reportedly made progress in rebuilding his relationship with his father, his bond with Prince William is said to remain strained.

One particular remark from the GQ interview attracted attention:"Some people don't want it to work out. I want it to work out," Harry said.

Although he did not identify anyone by name, the comment prompted speculation about whether he was referring to his older brother. However, a spokesperson for Harry later clarified that the remark was "in no way intended as a dig at his brother or any other member of his family," according to People.

Harry also acknowledged that emotional scars can remain long after a disagreement, but stressed the importance of moving forward. "With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile," he said.
