Born on April 16th, 1984 to an enormous Irish family in Manchester, Claire Foy was challenged with serious illnesses like a tumor behind her eye and arthritis that put her on crutches for a while. These challenges and tension in her family lead her to always struggle to overcome anxiety.

It was these struggles that helped her really conquer acting. Foy went to school at the Oxford School of Drama and immediately took on acting. She had small theater roles and then the lead part in the BBC's Little Dorrit in 2008. After this, she had small parts and theater work for years, once even alongside James McAvoy in Macbeth and as a bitter witch with Nicolas Cage

Finally, she began to break into her larger roles like doomed Queen "Anne Boleyn" in Wolf Hall and her titular role portraying Queen Elizabeth II in the hit Netflix series The Crown

It's her subtleties that really capture audiences, she has a talent for portraying so much while saying so little. For her work as Queen Elizabeth, she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress, 2 Screen Actors Guild awards and an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama series.
