Appearing on Thursday's episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Chris Rock admitted that he tried to get Cardi B into comedy before she was a household name!

The comedian opened up about how funny he thought she was when she was on TV before she started her musical career, and put her up there with big names like Bill Burr. 

Chris Rock tried getting Cardi B into comedy

Admitting his love for Cardi B, Chris rock announced to Jimmy Fallon just how hilarious he thought the rapper was and admitted that he tried to get her into the comedy world before she became famous for her musical talents.

Rock explained that he had no idea who she was until his children showed him clips of the singer on her reality TV show, Love and Hip Hop

Rock revealed he thought she was hilarious on the show and wanted to make a name for her in the Hollywood comedy world! 

"My kids showed me this Cardi B girl and she didn’t have a record out or anything," he said to Fallon. 

He added that he met up with the "WAP" singer to pitch an idea for a comedy show.

"She told me about her rap at the time, and I was like, 'Eh, that’s good, anyway…,'" Rock laughed. "You’re a comedy star."

"Like in the standings right now, who are the funniest people in the world? Cardi’s right up there. She’s neck and neck with Bill Burr. She’s good," he said.

Rock has also spoken out about the controversy surrounding Jimmy Fallon doing a blackface skit on SNL, saying the late night host "doesn't have a racist bone in his body."

Rock is set to be the first host for SNL on Oct. 3 following the studio shut down due to the novel Coronavirus.
