Denzel Washington has shared what he's hoping to take on next! During the premiere of his latest film, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Washington talked to Entertainment Tonight about where he ultimately wants his career to go from here.

Washington says he's "looking to do other things"

Washington, who stars as "Macbeth" in the film, told Entertainment Tonight that he finds himself "in the yellow leaf of my career" because of how much he's done. The 2019 AFI Life Achievement Award recipient admitted that he's "looking to do other things" aside from acting, sharing what a future project would need to entail in order for him to sign on.

The star said any role he considers must present "an extreme challenge for me to be interested," explaining that he's "about the challenges" at this stage. While he doesn't currently have any other acting projects lined up at the moment, that could change. Without naming names, Washington mentioned that he's been "talking to one or two of the top directors in the business" about potentially working together.

Washington spoke favourably about The Tragedy of Macbeth, saying that it was "a great ride" to be a part of. He also sang the praises of the film's cast and director, calling them "talented" and "brilliant" respectively. And when it comes to a role Washington would love to play, his sights are set on another tragic titular Shakespearean character! "Maybe Lear," he said, referring to the lead of the playwright's King Lear.
