Jaleel White started his career at a very young age and one of the biggest proofs of that was his role as "Steve Urkel" in the ABC sitcom Family Matters from 1989 to 1998. His character was originally supposed to be a one-time guest appearance but fans loved him so much that Jaleel became a regular cast member.

During his youth, Jaleel White auditioned for the role of "Rudy Huxtable" in The Cosby Show but was replaced by Keshia Knight after Bill Cosby decided to make the character a girl. During the 1990's he appeared in several popular television series like Full House in 1991; The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1995; and Step By Step in 1997.

In the 2000's he gained public attention after his work in films like Big Fat Liar in 2002, Dreamgirls in 2006, Call of the Wild in 2009, Sonic in 2013 voicing "Sonic the Hedgehog"; and The Preachers Son in 2017. His most recent work is in the 2018 Clint Eastwood's film The 15:17 To Paris, which tells the real-life story of three men who turned into heroes, where Jaleel played the role of "Garrett Wald."

The actor, who was nominated for a Young Artist Award has a daughter named Samaya with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Hardy, who is also an actress.
