Rumours started circulating over the summer that none other than James Corden would be replacing Ellen DeGeneres, as she faced allegations of toxicity in the workplace.

Now, Corden is laying the rumours to rest! The talk show host took the opportunity to come clean about the rumours and denied having any involvement in the replacement of DeGeneres.

James Corden denies replacing Ellen

On Wednesday night's episode of The Late Late Show, James Corden is putting the rumours to bed that he was set to replace DeGeneres on her show amid controversy.

During a game of "Spill Your Guts" with Alicia Keys, the rumour came up, and Cordon chose to acknowledge it.

"Genuinely, I have no idea where that even came from," Corden said. "I think somebody started a rumour somewhere and someone jumped on the thing. There is absolutely no truth in that story at all. Zero."

The then added, "As far as considering it, I think it would be a really crazy thing to take over from someone who I think has done the job so outrageously well for, like, 18 years."

"It’s not true," he continued. "And I think when the day comes to end this show, [it] will be the day to probably stop hosting a show every day. So, no I wouldn’t."

Keys also got into it during the game and ranked her co-stars from The Voice from best to worst.

"Gwen Stefani is best, Adam Levine is second and Blake Shelton is the worst," she joked.
