For many it would be impossible to have the show without Ortega. As the actress shared with The Times, she actually turned down the role multiple times before finally deciding to go for it. And Jenna had very valid reasons to feel that way, as she explained to her interviewers.
Jenna almost didn't take her signature role
"I had done so much TV in my life, all I’ve ever wanted to do is film. When I first started acting, I don’t want to say nobody believed in me, but at the same time nobody believed in me. You have to prove yourself," said Jenna. But one thing finally convinced her to accept the role of "Wednesday" in the Netflix series of the same name: director Tim Burton!
Here is how Jenna explained it: "The only reason I went back is because Tim [Burton] is such a legend, and we just happened to get along very well," Jenna said. But even then she canceled a few more times...
