As the world mourned alongside Chrissy Teigen and John Legend as they navigated through the immense grief following the loss of their baby boy, Legend is announcing the love he has for his wife.

John Legend is "in awe" of his wife Chrissy Teigen

John Legend is opening up about his wife and shares just how much he loves and appreciates her following the loss of their son, Jack. The two suffered a pregnancy loss earlier this month after Teigen was put on bedrest for excessive bleeding.

During this year's Billboard Awards, Legend performed his emotional ballad "Never Break" and dedicated it to his mourning wife.

In a touching Instagram post made late Thursday, the singer revealed he is "in awe" of his wife, and shared that he admires her.

"This is for Chrissy. I love and cherish you and our family so much," he started the caption, alongside a video of his emotional performance.

"We’ve experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together," he said. "Watching you carry our children has been so moving and humbling. I’m in awe of the strength you’ve shown through the most challenging moments."

He continued, "What an awesome gift it is to be able to bring life into the world. We’ve experienced the miracle, the power and joy of this gift, and now we’ve deeply felt its inherent fragility."

The singer then went on to explain the meaning behind his song and why it was so important he dedicated it to her.

"I wrote this song because I have faith that as long as we walk this earth, we will hold each other’s hands through every tear, through every up and down, through every test," he explained.

"We promised each other this on our wedding day seven years ago," he continued. "Every challenge we’ve faced has made that promise more powerful, more resilient. Our love will remain. We will never break."

Legend, who shares two children with Teigen, Luna, 4 and Miles, 2, concluded the post by thanking those who have stood by their family during this heartbreaking loss.

"Thank you to everyone who has been sending us prayers and well wishes, flowers, cards, words of comfort and empathy. We feel and appreciate your love and support more than you know," he said.

"More than anything, we’ve heard so many stories about how so many other families have experienced this pain, often suffering in silence. It’s a club no one wants to be a part of, but it’s comforting to know we’re not alone," he added.

"I’m sure Chrissy will have much more to say about this when she’s ready. But just know we’re grateful and we’re sending love to all of you and your families," he concluded.

Teigen and Legend confirmed the loss of their child on September 30 when Teigen was only halfway through her pregnancy. They revealed in the emotional post that they had named their baby boy Jack and that despite losing him, he will always be a part of their family.
