• Jonathan Majors has began his assault trial
  • He appeared in court alongside girlfriend Meagan Good
  • He also had a Bible in his hands

The courtroom was buzzing with the star power of Marvel's very own Jonathan Majors as he stood trial for assault charges, with none other than his stunning girlfriend Meagan Good by his side. The 'Lovecraft Country' heartthrob, who has captured audiences with his superhero charisma, is now fighting a real-life battle against allegations that could land him behind bars for up to a year!

The accuser meets the accused

Outfitted in a double-breasted gray suit with a white shirt and tie and wearing sunglasses, Majors looked ready for business on Wednesday in Manhattan Criminal Court.

What was also apparent was Good's supportive role as he fights misdemeanor assault and harassment charges stemming from a March altercation with his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Majors and Good, who started dating in May, walked side by side into court with their fingers intwined. Majors, ready for jury selection, carried his Bible and a poetry journal.

According to the 'Associated Press', the Bible is his personal one, and the small book contains his personal poetry. As for the ceramic drinking vessel, Majors travels everywhere with a mug, including to the Oscars and movie premieres. It stems from advice he has said his mom, a pastor, gave him that reminds him that no one "can big me up, as it were, or tear me down."

Good took a seat in the front row of the gallery. His now girlfriend was there to witness the accusations of his ex!

On March 25th, a ride through New York City turned into a nightmare when Majors was accused of a violent encounter with his former flame. The ex-girlfriend's claims are straight out of a dramatic script that includes slaps, a forceful throw into the car, twisted arms, and a hand injury that had her rushing to the hospital.

There were doctors involved

Citing minor head and neck injuries, including a cut ear, the plot thickens as the prosecutors present their case. But the defense has struck back calling it all a bluff. Majors isn't taking these accusations lying down. His high-powered attorney, Priya Chaudhry, is throwing punches, dubbing the alleged victim "a liar."

The plot twist? In June, Majors flipped the script, filing a complaint against his accuser, claiming she was the attacker, fueled by jealousy over a text to another woman.

It's expected that the judge will quickly rule on whether the testimony of other women alleging past physical and/or emotional abuse by Majors will be included in the trial. Also, whether a London police report and medical records from an incident said to have involved Majors will be admissible

All in all, it's a very convoluted story. The prosecution says this is on purpose, however. "The law is part theatrics in every sense of the word. All of that is thought about beforehand. When you're talking about a case like this, attorneys, litigators, you focus-group everything down to the detail," Julie Saunders, a former prosecutor told 'Yahoo'.

"You talk about what the defendant will wear — providing a suit for a client without means — as well as make sure they have family and supporters "sitting behind them" in court.

The tension is palpable as jury selection kicks off at 10 am EST. From a pool of 40, who will decide the fate of this Hollywood heavyweight? As the gavel prepares to strike, fans and foes alike are on the edge of their seats. Will justice prevail for the Marvel star, or will his superhero status crumble in the court of law?
