Jonah Hill was trying to pay Meryl Streep a huge compliment, but she didn't see it that way! On Monday, Hill appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about his new Netflix film Don't Look Up, which was when he shared a hilarious anecdote about his nickname for the actress!

Hill says Streep didn't know why he called her the 'GOAT'

Hill stars in the upcoming comedy with Streep, who he called "the best actor" while talking about working with her. However, while Hill has been heaping praise on Streep using what he assumed to be a common term, it turns out she didn't understand the context of what he said! He said that he had referred to her as the 'GOAT' during recent press junkets for the film, a popular phrase short for 'Greatest Of All Time'.

The actor told Fallon that it wasn't until Streep brought up the nickname herself that he realized she didn't understand the context. Hill shared that shortly before appearing on The Tonight Show, Streep told an interviewer that he was "'so comfortable with me, he's been calling me a goat all week.'" Hill was taken aback by her comment, and another one of their co-stars, Jennifer Lawrence, decided to clear things up!

Hill and Streep made a joint appearance on the Today show the following morning, and Streep shared where she thought the nickname had came from! She suggested Hill was calling her a 'GOAT' "maybe [because] I chew up the scenery or something." Lawrence also had a hilarious incident of her own while promoting Don't Look Up during a Q&A for the film last month, admitting that she freaked out about working with pop star Ariana Grande.
