• Nicolas Cage may be done with acting soon
  • He says he only has a few films left in the tank
  • THIS is how he feels about retiring

From his iconic turn as Ben Gates in 'National Treasure' to his Oscar-winning performance in 'Leaving Las Vegas,' Cage has left his mark in practically every film genre. And now, he is preparing to conclude his time on the big screen. In a bombshell revelation that's sent shockwaves through Tinseltown, Nicolas Cage has hinted at hanging up his silver screen spurs!

It wouldn't be the same without him

With a filmography that reads like a marathon movie binge, Cage is pondering a pivot from the popcorn flicks to the prestige of the stage and the allure of the small screen.

"I've pretty much said what I’ve had to say with cinema," declared Cage in a candid chat with 'Uproxx,' stirring up a storm of speculation about his cinematic swansong. With over 100 movies under his belt, the thespian titan is ready to bid a fond "Adios" to Hollywood blockbusters – but not before he crosses off a few more titles on his contract hit list.

The 'Face/Off' star isn't just looking for an exit; he's craving a new challenge. "I'm very interested in immersion streaming with episodic television," Cage confessed, his eyes twinkling with the promise of new horizons. Could we soon be binge-watching the next Cage craze on our screens?

"I may have three or four more movies left in me,” Cage told the magazine. The actor added he "took film performance as far as I could."

"I want to say bye on a high note," Cage told 'Vanity Fair'. "I was taking stock of how much time I had left. I thought, ‘Okay, my dad died at 75, I’m going to be turning 60. If I’m lucky, I have maybe a good 15 years and hopefully more. What do I want to do with those 15 years, using my father as the model?’"

Despite his desire to bow out on a 'Dream Scenario,' Cage's current silver screen stunner, the actor admits there are still roles to play before he can take his final bow. "I have other contracts that I have to fulfill," he mused, hinting at a future filled with careful script selection and perhaps a groundbreaking TV series.

In Kristoffer Borgli’s 'Dream Scenario,' Cage plays "Paul Matthews," a fairly reserved professor who, out of the blue, starts appearing in people’s dreams, even strangers. And the dreams are all similar...at first!

There's more than film to consider

"Maybe it’s time to look at the immersive streaming experience. I don’t know,” he told the magazine. “I have to look for the next step and I haven’t found it yet."

"But I want to look ahead," he added. "I want to see what’s next." Cage also mentioned winding down his film career while chatting with 'ET' last month.

When asked about plans for his upcoming birthday, the star told the outlet he is taking stock of what's really important, which includes reading a book a week, spending time with his daughter, and “maybe not [making] quite as many movies."

Family ties also tug at Cage's heartstrings as he contemplates his next act. With a milestone birthday on the horizon and a baby daughter to dote on, the 'National Treasure' star is seeking a stable set that keeps him close to home. "What's important is my children," Cage shared, revealing a softer side to the action hero.

As fans reel from the news, Cage's 2023 lineup still promises a feast of film fare, from the dark comedy 'Dream Scenario' to the bloodsucking fun of 'Renfield' and the suspense of 'Longlegs.' But as the credits roll on Cage's illustrious film career, we're left to wonder: what magic will he conjure up in the realm of television?

Stay tuned, Cage aficionados – the next act is just beginning.
