Jerry Stiller is dead. His son Ben Stiller (54) made the news public on Twitter in the early morning hours of Monday May 11, 2020. The popular actor and comedian died at the age of 92.

Ben Stiller emphasized in his tweet, the actor passed away from natural causes, and not from COVID-19: "I'm sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad."

Jerry Stiller: His amazing career

Jerry Stiller truly had a remarkable career. The actor had one of his first appearances on TV in 1956 and played popular parts in countless movies and shows. To his many fans, he was known from roles in movies like Zoolander, Heavyweights and The Independent and series like Love Boat and Seinfeld. A highlight in Jerry Stiller's career was his role in the TV series The King of Queens.

On the popular show, he played "Arthur Spooner" from 1998 to 2007, the eccentric father of "Carrie Heffernan" (Leah Remini) and father-in-law to "Doug Heffernan" (Kevin James).

The former co-stars Kevin James and Jerry Stiller got along brilliantly. In December 2019, The King of Queens star Kevin James even posted a photo of himself and Jerry Stiller on social media. He visited his "father-in-law shortly" before the Christmas holidays.

The last time Jerry Stiller worked in front of the camera was actually with his son Ben Stiller - they worked on the movies Zoolander 2 and Zoolander: Super Model in 2016.

Jerry Stiller had been married to his wife Anne Meara since 1954. She was also a famous comedienne and actress. They appeared in the sixties and seventies as the comedy duo "Stiller and Meara" and had great success with their show all over the country. Anne Meara also had some appearances in the sitcom The King of Queens. In 2015, Jerry Stiller's wife died at the age of 85.
