- Parker was diagnosed with cancer in 2020
The Wanted's Tom Parker has tragically died at 33 years old after battling cancer. The band announced the news on social media on Wednesday in a social media post, paying tribute to the late lead singer.
Parker was with his bandmates when he passed away
Parker was initially diagnosed with terminal brain cancer back in 2020, after he was found to have an inoperable tumour. His bandmates said that they were "devastated" by his death, which they called "tragic and premature". They also mentioned that they had been present at the time of Parker's death, which occurred the same day, along with his family.
"Tom was an amazing husband to Kelsey, and father to Aurelia and Bodhi," The Wanted said of their late bandmate. They also referred to Parker as their "brother," and mentioned how "words cannot express the loss and sadness we feel" about losing him to the illness.
"Always and forever in our hearts," they concluded. The Wanted's fans took to the comments to express their sadness and show support for the band amidst their devastating loss. Just weeks after receiving his life-threatening diagnosis in 2020, Parker had welcomed a new baby, which makes his death all the more tragic.
