The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations will soon see some big name celebrities join in on the fun! As Deadline reports, a brand-new special is set to be broadcast on ITV next month in honour of the event, with Helen Mirren, Tom Cruise, and Damian Lewis all making appearances.

Mirren to play Queen Elizabeth I in Platinum Jubilee special

Mirren's involvement in the special makes perfect sense since she has portrayed Queen Elizabeth II. The actress starred as the titular monarch in 2006's The Queen, and has had the opportunity to meet her on several occasions. Deadline reveals that in the special, Mirren will be playing a different queen— Elizabeth I!

Cruise and Lewis's involvement will reportedly be in the theatrical realm as well, with the two overseeing a couple different productions. Legendary composer Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and television presenters Ant McPartlin & Declan Donnelly, known as Ant & Dec, are some of the other notable names also confirmed to appear in the Platinum Jubilee special.
