Through The Years With Meg Ryan

Born November 19th, 1961 in Fairfield, Connecticut, Meg Ryan was destined for the screen. While at the University of Connecticut she acted in small soaps, commercials, and on As The World Turns to earn money and dropped out one semester short of earning her degree due to her success on screen.She had a few roles that started to earn her attention like playing "Carole Bradshaw," better known as "Goose's" wife in the smash hit 'Top Gun' and with her eventual husband Dennis Quaid in 'Innerspace,' and 'D.O.A.'

Meg got her big breakthrough with the romantic film 'When Harry Met Sally' back in 1989. The movie quickly became a cult classic and turned the young actress into an overnight sensation. Her performance even got her a Golden Globe nomination! The scene from 'When Harry Met Sally' where "Sally" (Meg Ryan) tells "Harry" how easy it is for women to fake an orgasm, is probably one of the most memorable scenes in film history!

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks became an endlessly popular on-screen couple in the 1990s in films like 'Sleepless In Seattle,' 'Joe Versus the Volcano,' and 'You've Got Mail.'

In 1991, she married handsome actor Dennis Quaid and the two had a son together the following year. Their son Jack Quaid is even a successful actor himself now! The two had a loving but tumultuous marriage that was pushed to the edge with Dennis' bad habits and addictions he confessed later. The couple divorced in 2001.

Meg's Hollywood popularity continued to skyrocket with her hits like 'Courage Under Fire' with Denzel Washington and Matt Damon, 'Addicted to Love' with Matthew Broderick, and 'City of Angels' with Nicolas Cage.

Meg and Dennis's marriage was constantly tabloid fodder and because Meg had pursued a relationship with her co-star Russell Crowe, many speculated they were having an affair when in fact she and Dennis had not been together in a long time due to his addictions and infidelities. The constant negative headlines completely shattered her image of the great romantic comedy actress.

Because she is such a talented actress, she was able to persevere and continue on filming hits like 'Against the Ropes,' 'In the Land of Women,' and 'Hanging Up.'

In 2006, Meg adopted her young daughter Daisy True from China who is happily all grown up now!

Back in 2015, Meg Ryan decided to try her hand at directing and debuted her first film 'Ithaka.' She took on a supporting role in the drama alongside her son, who happened to play the main role. Even her old acting partner-in-crime Tom Hanks had a guest role! We could definitely see that the once beautiful actress underwent a bit of plastic surgery after she gave her speech at the 2016 Tony awards.
