Kim Kardashian has been blasted in the past for her Met Gala looks (need I remind you of that floral gown?) but this look by Mugler really takes the cake for the most iconic in recent history. Not only did the corset literally dig into her organs making it incredibly hard to breathe, but this look itself also had to be sewn shut while Kim was wearing it. The look was inspired by Sophia Loren's wet dress in her 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin, and Mugler added small details of crystals dripping from the nude dress. While the dress may be completely impractical, there is no denying the whole look, from the slicked hair, dewy makeup, and crystal detailing in both the dress and the nails is a complete work of art.

Last but not least we have none other than pop princess and icon herself, Madonna! This VMA Awards look in 1984 may not appear to be anything special at first glance, however, Madonna created a fashion moment that we would see on red carpets for years to come. Wearing a corset and puffed skirt, Madonna was really the first to wear lingerie as high fashion, and for the time pairing such a sexy look with rosary beads and a belt that reads "Boy Toy" was a very controversial move that had people talking. While the younger generation adored her for such a bold move, many were shocked and even angered that such an influential person was so controversial on a red carpet event.
