In her new film, Jamie Lee Curtis says her "goal" was to not "conceal" anything about her body. "I've been sucking my stomach in since I was 11," she wrote, adding that her new approach made her feel "free creatively and physically." Here's the photo:
Looking confident in her movie role, Curtis sports a form-fitting yellow turtleneck. Her full post about movies and beauty standards went like this: "In the world, there is an industry — a billion-dollar, trillion-dollar industry — about hiding things.
"Concealers. Body-shapers. Fillers. Procedures. Clothing. Hair accessories. Hair products. Everything to conceal the reality of who we are."
Addressing her film, Jamie Lee Curtis wrote: "And my instruction to everybody was: I want there to be no concealing of anything. I've been sucking my stomach in since I was 11, when you start being conscious of boys and bodies, and the jeans are super tight.
"I very specifically decided to relinquish and release every muscle I had that I used to clench to hide the reality. That was my goal. I have never felt more free creatively and physically."
Jamie Lee Curtis's new movie is Everything Everywhere All At Once, a science fiction film from director Daniel Kwan. It premiered at SXSW today and opens in theatres on March 25.
The actress has also been in the news recently for her warm embrace of her daughter, who came out as trans recently.
