Born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant on June 21st, 1985 in New York City, Lana Del Rey is the recipient of numerous music awards and is best known for her "sadcore" genre style of music.

Lana Del Rey's Career Highlights

Upon graduating from Fordham University with a Bachelor's degree in philosophy in 2008, Lana had already begun working on her debut album, Lana Del Rey. While it was a smaller-scale album only briefly sold on iTunes, she eventually ended up making her own self-made videos on YouTube for the singles "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans", which became viral.

In 2012, her second studio album, Born to Die was released, and sold 3.4 million copies that year! Her song "Summertime Sadness" became an immediate international hit, which led to her EP Paradise. She combined the albums and made Born to Die: The Paradise Edition, and in turn, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.

In 2015, Lana released Honeymoon, which debuted number 2 on the Billboard charts. Her 2017 album, Lust for Life, garnered a bit more attention than Honeymoon, as she was yet again Grammy-nominated for a Best Pop Vocal Album. In this album, she had various hip hop artists also featured in her songs, including ASAP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and The Weeknd

Lana Del Rey's newest releases

Lana put out her sixth studio album, Norman Fucking Rockwell! on August 30th, 2019, which was nominated for Album of the Year, as well as Song of the Year during the 62nd Grammy Awards. The album cover included Lana posing with Duke Nicholson - grandson of Jack Nicholson

Lana released her 7th album in 2021 - Chemtrails Over the Country Club. She was recently under fire for an Instagram post where she criticized artists like Beyoncé, Kehlani, Ariana Grande, and others for singing songs about "being sexy" and "wearing no clothes", while her songs about "being embodied" and "feeling beautiful" didn't sell as well. Someone sounds bitter!

In any case, Lana's singing career has earned her 2 MTV Europe Music Awards, 2 Brit Awards, a Satellite Award, and six Grammy nominations.

We're sure she'll be up for another Grammy nomination, or maybe even win, this next year! Despite her own career feelings, there's no doubt she'll have a long, successful career ahead of her.
