• Harry and Meghan are famous faces
  • After stepping back from Royal duties they now live in America
  • Learn about their current titles here

These days, it's understandably difficult to keep up with all the news about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan.

But, even for the most informed royal fans, one topic that can still be confusing is the couple's royal title. Harry and Meghan did step down as working members of the Royal Family, but are they are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex today?

Are Harry and Meghan still Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

Queen Elizabeth II made Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their wedding day in 2018. And, believe it or not, they still hold those titles today, even after the Oprah interview and all.

Prince Harry and Meghan are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex today.

When the Sussexes left their roles as working royals, they did so in two stages. Neither of those stages involved the Queen stripping her grandson of the dukedom.

A change was made, however, in how the Duke and Duchess are styled today. Because they left their royal positions, they no longer use the style HRH (His and Her Royal Highness) before their Sussex title.

They also had to stop using the word "royal" in their work. That's why they started Archewell and gave up their Sussex Royal brand.

But the Palace confirmed they remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex even in the statement on their permanent exit as royals. "While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family," it concluded.

Should Meghan and Harry be stripped of royal titles?

Still, Harry and Meghan continue to prompt outcry on occasions when they use their titles. In particular, critics are especially loud about stripping the couple of the titles when they wade into politics — an act frowned upon in royal circles.

Also Interesting:

But Harry and Meghan will continue to have the right to call themselves the Duke and Duchess of Sussex unless a monarch — King Charles, or Prince William after him — personally strips them of the titles.

In sum, it is correct to call Prince Harry a prince, and he and Meghan are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They just aren't working royals, nor do they present themselves as His or Her Royal Highness.
