Princess Kate steals the show at new banquet

For the occasion, Kate really dressed up. For the first time in three years, she wore a tiara again and looked fabulous at the side of Prince William.

The impressive piece of jewelry is the so-called "Lover's Knot Tiara," which was originally made for Queen Mary. After her death, Queen Elizabeth II wore it for a while before passing it on to Princess Diana, and after her death it finally went to Duchess Kate.

In addition to all the sparkling jewelry, Kate wore a special brooch that evening, as did the other royal ladies present: Camilla, Sophie, and more.

A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was clearly visible on a yellow ribbon – a touching gesture to commemorate the late Queen.

More history behind Kate's new outfits

Princess Kate had also cut a great figure earlier in the afternoon in an elegant coat dress by Emilia Wickstead. Here, too, she wore a brooch rich in history. It was once a gift to Alexandra of Denmark when she married Edward VII.

The brooch was last worn by Diana and Camilla, jewelry expert Maxwell Stone told Page Six Style. He values the 25-carat gem with numerous diamonds and emeralds at a whopping $400,000.
