There's more to this King than meets the eye!

Charles' father, Prince Philip († 99), was the son of the German-born Alice von Battenberg. Incidentally, his birth name Mountbatten-Windsor is derived from this name. Mountbatten is just the English form of the Hessian noble family Battenberg.
