This Is What Prince William Thinks About Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker'

Prince Charles has given Katy Perry a special title, honouring her commitment to his goodwill organization! During a special reception dinner held Tuesday night in London, he named the singer as an ambassador of the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund for India.

Charles is a co-founder of the organization, which aims to transform the lives of people across Asia. While his decision to invite Perry into his inner circle may come as a surprise, the two actually first became acquainted last year in Mumbai! They were both there on business, attending a meeting of British-Asian Trust supporters and advisors.

Katy Perry: a globetrotting Ambassador of Goodwill

Katy Perry already held the title of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador when Charles bestowed this one on her, thanks to her advocacy for children's rights with the organization. In a statement, Perry reveals how she's been impacted by her travels across the world on behalf of UNICEF, especially to India.

"My work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador has taken me to many parts of the world and opened my eyes to the many vulnerabilities of children,” Perry said. “India has long held a special place in my heart, and on my last visit, I was able to meet with The Prince of Wales and other leaders in Mumbai, and I was impressed by their strong plan – from on-ground initiatives to fundraising – that will aim to cut child trafficking in half".

Perry "especially honoured" to be named ambassador by Charles

Katy Perry has demonstrated how passionate she is when it comes to the issue of children's freedom in third-world countries like India. Instead of simply being a performing artist, Perry is also unequivocally a champion of human rights, using her platform for good.

"That is why I am especially honored to be named an ambassador for the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund, and to help shine my light on the work that the British Asian Trust will be doing in South Asia, and to be a part of finding solutions to child trafficking," Perry said.
