At the scene of the accident was firefighter Xavier Gourmelon, who not only fought for Diana's life but was also the last to speak to her. As he revealed to 'The Independent,' her last words were, "My God, what has happened?"
In the book 'The Diana Chronicles', author Tina Brown quotes paramedic Dr. Frederic Mailliez, who was also present at the accident. According to Dr. Mailliez, Diana woke up because of her injuries.
