Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96. The whole world mourned the longest ever reigning monarch. Now it's the first anniversary of her death and the royals are publicly commemorating her. With the death of the Queen officialized, her eldest son Charles became King Charles III. He paid tribute to his mother on Instagram today.

The palace shared a video clip in which you can see not just a photo of a young Queen Elizabeth, but also one of her with Charles and Camilla. The king himself can be heard in a voiceover saying this: "In marking the first anniversary of her late majesty's death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us."
