One image happened to catch the Prince place his arm around his wife's back on their way up the stairs at the theatre.

The affectionate moment is a rare occurrence for the Royals in public. They are normally very reserved and proper.

Prince William and Duchess Catherine's public appearances

William and Kate's Tuesday attendance at the theatre was part of a busy public week for the couple.

Kate attended a SportsAid event at London Stadium on Wednesday. Separately, William visited the Beacon Project in Mansfield.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will next head to Ireland, where they will spend time throughout next week.
