King Charles III began his reign on Sept. 8, 2022, following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
As King, Charles inherited many impressive royal properties, but he's calling just one of them "home" for now.
Home for the King: Charles passes on Buckingham Palace
Traditionally, the British monarch resides at Buckingham Palace in London. Queen Elizabeth, however, broke away from that tradition during the COVID-19 pandemic, spending the final years of her reign at Windsor Castle.
And King Charles will continue the trend of living away from the Palace. But for him it won't be Windsor Castle either.
While heir to the throne, Charles and his wife Camilla lived at Clarence House, a short distance away from Buckingham Palace. And for the time being, Clarence House will be the official residence of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Clarence House: Charles and Camilla's forever home?
The Mirror has reported that the monarch intends to stay at Clarence House for the "foreseeable future," and perhaps even permanently.
In addition, Buckingham Palace is undergoing major renovations for at least the next few years. So Charles won't consider moving there for now.
