Bridgerton fans recently got some surprising news about the upcoming third season of the popular period drama! The series is based on the books by Julia Quinn and follows the story of the "Bridgerton" family of ten, consisting of the late father, mother, and their eight children— but the third season is taking a different direction.
Bridgerton season 3 to focus on "Colin's" romance
Bridgerton revolves around the love story of one of the children each season. Now Netflix has announced who will be featured in Bridgerton season 3. While seasons one and two focus on the eldest "Bridgerton" daughter and son, unlike in the books, the third will make a small deviation and center on the third eldest son "Colin".
The focus is also on the love story between "Colin" and the daughter of another family— "Penelope," who fell in love with the "Bridgerton" son. Netflix revealed this news on behalf of "Lady Whistledown," who publishes the gossip papers in the series.
“It is only fair that in this author's third year in which this author chronicling the marriage mart, Mayfair's social season should find its focus on a third son...as well as a third daughter. This author can confirm that the upcoming season shall follow none other than the budding relationship between 'Mr. Colin Bridgerton' and one 'Miss Penelope Featherington'."

Bridgerton fans are already wanting a happy ending for "Polin," and "Penelope's" actress Nicola Coughlan is also very excited. "Like Lady Whistledown I’ve been keeping quite a big secret for quite a long time, but I can finally tell you that @bridgertonnetflix Season Three is Colin and Penelope’s Story," she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and Luke Newton, who plays "Colin".
"Penelope" seems to have a crush on her best friend's brother. However, he lost his heart to someone else in the first season. Will "Colin" choose "Penelope" as well? There's also the friendship between "Penelope" and "Eloise"— how will things continue with this surprising plot twist? And how will "Lady Whistledown" deal with this romance? After all, the gossip author is none other than "Penelope" herself! Netflix has not yet announced when Bridgerton season 3 will be released.
