Camilla Luddington is just as shocked by what's happening on this season of Grey's Anatomy as the fans watching it all play out from home! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Luddington opened up in a new interview about why season 17 of the show could be the craziest one yet— and said that she knows who else is coming back!

Luddington says new season "turns everything on their head"

Luddington explained recent developments in the show have caught her by surprise, suggesting that an episode still to come this season might be one of the show's most shocking yet! "I just read a script, literally in the past two weeks, that completely floored me," the actress revealed to Entertainment Tonight's Katie Krause. "I had no idea and it's wild."

"This season is, honestly the season just turns everything on their head. In fact, I didn't even believe it," Luddington continued. "I was like, 'That's not real.' I was texting people! It's a crazy season. To me, it was more shocking [than McDreamy's return]. But to somebody else, it might not be. But to me, I just really did not see it coming."

Luddington knows which character is set to return next

Grey's Anatomy is tackling the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in season 17, with Ellen Pompeo's "Meredith"— who also happens to be the show's protagonist— currently battling the virus! This storyline has opened the door for former cast members such as Patrick Dempsey and T.R. Knight to reprise their roles, returning through "Meredith's" COVID-19 induced hallucinations.

And while Luddington has been careful not to reveal any spoilers, she's certainly aware of fans' wishes for the show— namely the hope that "Meredith's" sister "Lexie" will make a return! "It's the biggest secret of our season," she said regarding who "Meredith" will see appear next each week. "I do know but I'm not going to tell. I'm not going to say yes or no either way."
