Orphan Black fans received some exciting news when it was revealed that the stars of the cult sci-fi show are reuniting for a cause! As Variety reports, BBC America announced on Monday that the cast of Orphan Black will be coming together for a virtual table reading of two episodes from the show.

And although Orphan Black's final season aired back in 2017, there's no doubt that "Clone Club" (as the show's fanbase has been dubbed) will still be eagerly anticipating this online reunion. Here's what to expect from the event, which is set to take place later this week!

Orphan Black cast to do live reading of season 1 episodes

Orphan Black's virtual reunion will see the cast doing a live read of two episodes from season 1, as they take on both episode 6 ("Variations Under Domestication") and episode 7 ("Parts Developed in an Unusual Manner"). BBC America also announced that those episodes would be available to stream free online for the next two weeks.

Cast members Tatiana Maslany, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Jordan Gavaris, Évelyne Brochu, Kristian Bruun, Kevin Hanchard, Dylan Bruce, Josh Vokey, Michael Mando, Inga Cadranel, Eric Johnson, and Natalie Lisinska have all been confirmed by BBC America to be taking part in the event, which will be streamed live on Facebook.

Maslany's acting double Kathryn Alexandre will also be in attendance, along with the show's creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett. In addition, executive producer Kerry Appleyard, writer Will Pascoe and co-producer Mackenzie Donaldson are appearing as well.

Orphan Black reunion will encourage donations to two charities

Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany— who will be reprising her roles as clones "Sarah," "Cosima," "Alison," and "Helena" for the event— explained how the reunion came about in a statement to BBC America. "Kristian Bruun and I started talking about the idea of doing an OB reunion back when everything had shut down," Maslany said.

"We wanted to show love to Clone Club and help raise some money for people who are disproportionately affected during this difficult time." That's why fans watching will be encouraged to donate money to two charities that the cast chose— CenterLink, which is an American-based coalition of LGBTQ+ centres, and Sistering, a Toronto non-profit that helps women and transgender individuals in need of support.

Maslany wants fans to "feel connected to the Clone Club community"

Orphan Black's fanbase has remained dedicated to the show through the years, and Maslany wants the fans to feel the love. "In addition to raising funds, we hope that we can bring some joy to the fans, something intimate just for them, make them feel connected to the Clone Club community even if we’re all far apart," she said in her statement. "Going back to first season for some nostalgia and iconic moments."

Furthermore, Maslany said that Orphan Black's key themes made the event an organic fit. "Our show was always about family and community and seestrahood," she explained, "so bringing us all back together for this just felt right.”

The Orphan Black virtual table read will be livestreamed from the official Orphan Black Facebook page at 3 PM EST on May 17, which also happens to be International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
