Through 15 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, fans had to go through a lot. The series is known for dramatic deaths of its characters. Some fans of the show fear that another character could die in the 16th season.

The character fans are currently worried about is "Meredith Grey's" (Ellen Pompeo) daughter "Zola" (Aniela Gumbs). Her oldest child recently needed a shunt revision for her spina bifida.

As a result, "Zola" recently had to undergo emergency surgery in the previous episode. The procedure was successful and apparently without complications - but this does not reassure long-time fans.

Grey's Anatomy fans fear that "Zola" might not be fine

Many have voiced their opinions on Twitter and are doubting that everything went as smooth as it might have seemed. The past 15 seasons have - truly - been a cautionary tale which is way their fears could surely be justified. With Grey's, you can just never be sure...

"Meredith Grey" has been part of the successful series from the beginning. Over the years, she's had to cope with the loss of some close friends and relatives. Fans hope that "Meredith" doesn't have to lose her daughter as well!

Ellen Pompeo has already expressed her thoughts on a possible end of the show: "I would love to have some of the old cast come back, the original cast[...]. That would be the most amazing day," the actress revealed on The Late Late Show with James Corden this summer. To what extent this is possible remains questionable, as numerous characters have died. Former favorites like "Derek Shepherd" (Patrick Dempsey), "Mark Sloan" (Eric Dane), "Lexi Grey" (Chyler Leigh) and "George O'Malley" (T.R. Knight) won't be able to make a comeback...

Episode 6 of season 16 ("Whistlin' Past the Graveyard") of Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays (tonight!) at 8pm (7 central) on ABC.
