Jessica Chastain is heading an international team of female spies in her newest project! As ET Canada shares, the first trailer for Chastain's upcoming movie The 355 dropped on Tuesday, and it certainly looks like an exciting one!

Chastain's The 355 an action-packed global espionage thriller

Chastain stars alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Fan Bingbing in The 355, which is about a team of international female spies who team up to stop a common enemy from causing World War III. Each of the women represent the country they're from, and collectively operate under the codename "The 355," which— as ET Canada mentions— refers to the first female spy in the American Revolution.

Soundtracked by the Jay-Z song "Run this Town," which also features Rihanna and Kanye West, the trailer sets up the movie's premise while giving us a first look at some pretty explosive, action-packed moments! As The Hollywood Reporter shares, The 355 is produced by Chastain's Freckle Films and directed by Simon Kinberg, with a screenplay written by Kinberg and Theresa Rebeck. The movie also stars Edgar Ramírez and Sebastian Stan.

Chastain wanted to make a female-focused spy movie

Chastain appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday night to talk about The 355, revealing what had inspired her to get the film made! "I had seen so many movies with ensembles of male actors that were great films, and great actors, but I was wondering, why don’t we have movies with women?” she said."I know that in real life, women are at the forefront of espionage."

The actress recently starred in another spy thrillerAva, as the titular deadly assassin who finds herself fighting for survival. The 355 is currently set to hit theatres on January 15, 2021, so hopefully we'll get to see it in the near future!
