The TV drama NCIS and "Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs", played by Mark Harmon (67), are inseparable. Since the first episode of NCIS, "Gibbs" has been in front of the cameras. The upcoming finale of season 16 could have something big in store for Harmon's character.

NCIS finale: What kind of secret will "Gibbs" reveal?

As CinemaBlend reports, Gibbs and his team are soon expecting a new case that will be tough and will put a lot of pressure on the special agent. According to CinemaBlend, "Gibbs" will supposedly break one of his own rules: "Never get personally involved in a case.".

Producer Steve Binder told TVLine that Gibbs would eventually reach a point of "inability to function properly".

Those who know "Gibbs", know that he won't accept such an emotional breakdown just like that. The return of actress Laura San Giacomo (56) as "Dr. Grace Confalone" is supposed to help him through this difficult time. The special agent will make a big revelation that will change everything. The NCIS family will see "Gibbs" in a new light.

NCIS: Is "Gibbs" leaving the show?

Rumor has it that "Gibbs'" behavior may be related to "Ziva's" possible NCIS comeback. But apparently there is something else in "Gibbs'" life that nobody knew anything about.

Many NCIS fans are afraid that "Gibbs" will be leaving the show. This could also be a reason for the change in the agent's life. But what exactly awaits us we will probably only find out in the long-awaited finale of the 16th season. At least we know one thing: It will certainly be exciting!

NCIS: When will there be new episodes and season 17?

The final episode of the 16th NCIS season will be broadcast on May 21st. The good news: A 17th NCIS season has already been confirmed by CBS.

NCIS: will "Ziva" really make a comeback?

Could "Ziva" (Coté de Pablo, 39) actually return to NCIS? This rumor has kept die-hard fans on their toes for weeks now. After all, the secret agent was part of the show for 8 years. In 2013, "Ziva's" dramatic exit from the show marked the end of an era. But was it perhaps not so final after all?

In the 13th episode of the 16th season (aptly called "She"), we got to see a glimpse of "Ziva". Since then, NCIS fans have been sure that "Ziva" is still alive. She lives in Washington DC and is still working an old case. The latest statements by NCIS co-showrunner Steven Binder (47) will also fuel the rumors: "It’s such a great thread, I’d hate to leave it on the table," he explained in an interview.

He also makes it clear that Coté de Pablo might not come back physically, but as somewhat of a 'ghost', as she did in the episode "She": "I don't want to say ‘the sky’s the limit,’ but given that she’s been gone for years, there’s a lot that could have happened that could be fodder for us," Binder said, "even if she’s not necessarily present."
