Neve Campbell Has Officially Joined The Cast Of 'Scream 5'

It was announced on Thursday that Neve Campbell is returning to Scream for the horror movie franchise's fifth installment, Scream 5! Campbell teased the announcement on Instagram and said she's "beyond excited" to be back. Find out more here, including who else will be joining her!

Neve Campbell has officially confirmed that she's joining the cast of Scream 5! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Campbell took to social media on Thursday to share that she's returning to the franchise as her iconic character "Sidney Prescott," and fans are freaking out!

Campbell says she's "beyond excited" to return to Scream

Campbell shared a video clip on Instagram of the Scream character "Ghostface" as she broke the news. "Hello, Sidney... remember me?" text on the video read, with the presumed release date of Scream 5— 1.14.22— at the bottom! The actress's caption further confirmed the news. "Hello again, Sidney… #ImBack @ScreamMovies," Campbell wrote alongside the post.

As Entertainment Tonight reports, Campbell also made a statement about coming back for more Scream. "I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro," she said. Although the actress had been in talks to return for the new Scream movie for some time, the news wasn't officially confirmed until today!

'Scream': Where Is The Cast Today?

"The conversations are being had, that's for sure. There was a lot of talk about it," she had told Entertainment Tonight in May when asked if she would be reprising her role of "Sidney" in Scream 5. "I wasn't sure it was going to happen. ...We're starting conversations, we're starting negotiations."

Campbell the latest cast member to return for Scream 5

Campbell's announcement certainly delighted Scream fans, especially since many of the original cast members have already signed on for the franchise's fifth outing! Last month, Courteney Cox confirmed that she would be reprising her role as "Gale Weathers". Her ex-husband, David Arquette, will also be back as "Sheriff Dewey Riley."

Matthew Lillard, who played "Stu Macher" in Scream, has said that he would be on board to join the new movie as well! However, he hasn't been announced to be part of the cast at this point in time. With many of the franchise's key players confirmed and a projected release date already in place, hopefully filming for Scream 5 will be able to begin soon!
