Parks and Rec special to show Pawnee while social distancing

Parks and Recreation's relentlessly optimistic protagonist "Leslie Knope" will be at the heart of the show's special, which is said to take place in current times. According to the synopsis Deadline provided, "The story comes from the events of the day – Pawnee’s most dedicated civil servant, Leslie Knope (Poehler), is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing".

The show's executive producer Michael Schur shared why the one-time reunion for a cause came together. "Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money," Schur said.
