Scream fans will be thrilled to learn that the popular slasher series is getting another sequel! On Thursday, it was confirmed that a sixth Scream is in the works, with the same creative team returning.

New Scream to begin production this summer

The first Scream was released in 1996 and is still considered one of the most iconic horror movies. Starring Neve Campbell as "Sidney Prescott," Scream ended up becoming a franchise, with the fifth instalment released last month. Since the new film has performed so well at the box office, it's not surprising that there are plans for more!

It is not known which cast members will return for the sixth Scream or where the story will pick up. However, Deadline shared that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be back, with the film set to begin production in the summer! Scream has grossed over $100 million globally, and representatives for the film's production company have made a statement about its success.
