True Blood

First up we have True Blood, the sexy 18+ show featuring vampires, werewolves, faeries, and backwoods Louisiana folk. The season finale left fans feeling very underwhelmed, considering the entire plot and storylines revolved around violence and literal blood baths.

Having the main character "Sookie" marry a human nobody after entire seasons of will-she-or-won't-she end up with "Bill" was a major letdown. Not to mention, the entire season finale felt pretty traditional for a show that openly mocked and made fun of the more conservative traditions.

Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls was an iconic early 2000s show, giving us true mother-daughter #goals, as well as serving up some incredible music suggestions. Despite all this though, fans were pretty bummed in the season finale, after so many loose ends were left for viewers to just make up their own idea of what happens.

Did "Luke" and "Lorelai" ever end up together? Did "Rory" make it big? During the revival season, these questions were answered, but fans were not as pleased with some of the character progression, specifically "Rory", and once again the ending left a huge hole for us to figure out, who is the father!?

Game Of Thrones

Okay, you knew this one was coming. Game of Thrones, the most unpredictable show of the 21st century, yet somehow the season finale was obvious, not well written, and didn't flow properly with the previous storylines.

Fans were super upset at not only the final episode but the final season as a whole because so many characters and their development were seemingly thrown out the window. The writing seemed rushed, and so many plot holes made viewers so angry they petitioned online for a complete rewrite!

LOST

The finale of LOST was pretty lacklustre considering all of the intricacies involved with the storyline and characters. It turned out, events of the entire show were part of some purgatorial judgment.

This not only was a huge fan theory the entire time but it felt like kind of a rip-off when one thinks about how complex and mysterious most of the show was.

Roseanne

Roseanne was truly one of the first sitcoms of its kind to show a struggling lower-middle-class family in America during a time when much social change was prevalent. The show was not only a commentary on what was happening politically and economically but adding humour to everyday situations and real-life family struggles was refreshing and welcomed among viewers.

That's why its final season left fans questioning what it was all for. The "Conner" family ended up winning the lottery, which left the season pretty unrecognizable to loyal watchers. Then it went a step further, revealing in the end that "Dan" didn't survive his heart attack at the end of season 8, and the whole thing took place in "Roseanne's" mind, rendering the whole season pretty pointless albeit depressing.

13 Reasons Why

The ever depressing show 13 Reasons Why was never meant to be a 4 season story, but rather a limited series based on a book of the same name.  The show commented on bullying, sexual assault, and many more hard-hitting topics, but fans were left confused and annoyed at the final season.

Many claimed that the main character "Clay" felt like a "white saviour", and revelled in his privilege while they introduced unnecessary characters and pointless side stories that made the whole ending seem contradictory to its original narrative.

Gossip Girl

If you're wanting to watch Gossip Girl for the first time, skip ahead, major spoiler alert! This iconic early 2000s show featured the life of New York City's elite and rich teens, and with the memorable soundtrack laid over impeccable outfits and juicy drama, the show quickly became a fan favourite.

That is, however, until the very end when it was revealed that "Dan", the beloved down-to-earth wholesome character was none other than the true "Gossip Girl", which not only didn't make sense when you look at previous plot lines but something that was completely out of character for him. Fans felt pretty ripped off, and to be honest, most of us are still angry about this.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother spent their entire time working on a plotline on how "Ted" ends up finding the love of his life and shows along with way his closest friends with their own life adventures. Fans felt let down in the season finale as it seems the whole hype surrounding his life partner was the only thing keeping the show going.

We're finally introduced to the woman we've been anticipating, only for us to barely see any of their relationship before she dies. Not only that, but "Robin" and "Barney" spend a whole season preparing for their marriage only to break up. Fans agree the show built up much hype for a pretty disappointing and depressing ending.

Dexter

Dexter manages to make it onto every list that mentions a bogus ending and here is why! While the show itself was incredibly well done, fans were hugely disappointed in the finale.

Not only did he kill off his sister, who he repeatedly claims is the only person he's actually cared for, he later then drives off into an eye of a storm on his boat, presumably killing him, before it's revealed he survived the storm and is working as a logger in God knows where. The whole thing felt cheap and a complete afterthought.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars was a gripping story of four teens and their secret revolving around a friend of theirs that died under mysterious circumstances. Overall, the show was well written and had a lot of plot twists, but viewers did take issue with some aspects of the show, but it wasn't until the final season did people really get annoyed.

Apparently the whole time, unbeknownst to any of the girls, one of the main characters "Spencer" actually had an evil twin. The whole plot twist makes zero sense and created more plot holes than anything else. Many fans of the show were completely confused.

Despite shows stringing fans along for many seasons due to their great writing or shocking plot twists, some TV series built up so much anticipation for their final season that fans were left totally disappointed. Take this is as your warning now, there are plenty of spoilers ahead!

These Series Finales Left Fans Very Disappointed

With shows like Gossip Girl, which first aired in 2007, fans were thrown into a world of New York City's elite teens, and while everyone that watched fell in love with the drama, the disappointing reveal at the very end didn't line up with previous storylines and contradicted a main character's personality completely.

Along with that, around the same time, fans tuned in to the Gilmore Girls to keep falling in love with a mother-daughter duo that every teenage girl was envious of, but with so many loose ends and so many plot holes about the future, this series finale didn't live up to the previous hype.
