But, behind the scenes, also in consideration for the role of "Amy" was actress Kate Micucci, according to Screenrant. At the time, she already had sitcom experience on Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, and Malcolm in the Middle

However, Micucci did not end up without a role in The Big Bang Theory entirely. In 2013, she was cast as "Lucy," the anxious friend of "Raj." She was seen in the comedy series for a total of eight episodes.

Ultimately, the Big Bang creators decided on Mayim Bialik as "Amy" — and the actress had actually already been mentioned earlier in the series.

In season 1, when "Sheldon" and "Leonard" put teams together for a physics competition, "Raj" jokingly suggests the lead actress from the series Blossom for the team. Bialik played the role in the real-life series.
