One Day at a Time

Finally, the sitcom One Day at a Time gave us an LGBTQ+ moment for the books. When "Elena" comes out to her father as being gay, instead of a wholesome moment we were expecting from the comedy series, her father is shocked, and chooses to walk away from their relationship.

If it wasn't something that happens regularly, perhaps it wouldn't seem too real and emotional, but the scene was raw and hit on a level the show usually doesn't go to.

The Office

Nothing was sadder than watching "Michael" from The Office leave! In the final episode that featured Steve Carell,  "Michael" didn't tell anyone that it was his actual last day, leaving them to believe they still had more time with their boss.

Walking around the office handing out little gifts and saying his own personal goodbye was a major tear-jerker, but it was "Pam" running to the airport to see him off that really let the waterworks flow!

Sex Education

Netflix's hit TV series Sex Education did a phenomenal job showing what healing from sexual assault can look like in Season 2. "Amiee", the beloved whimsical blonde gets assaulted on the bus, and for the rest of the season, can't manage to force herself to take the bus on her way to school.

By the end of the season, she finally tells a group of girls that she can't walk on no matter how hard she tries. The girls the next morning surprise her at the stop and get on with her in an act of female solidarity. Needless to say, we all balled our eyes out.

The O.C

O.K major spoiler alert ahead!

"Marissa" on The O.C was a complicated character, and whether you loved her or hated her, there's no denying that when her love interest "Ryan" finds her dead on the road following a fatal car crash, audiences were shook! We're pretty sure that every millennial is still processing the major plot twist!

Boy Meets World

Boy Meets World was a 90s kid classic, and everyone wished they had a "Mr. Tucker" in their lives, when in reality what we needed was a "Mr. Feeny".

So naturally, when "Mr. Feeny" left the show, we all realized how integral he was to the endless life lessons the show provided. It was a hard moment to say goodbye to the wholesome neighbour.

Dawson's Creek

Dawson's Creek had more than one moment that made us misty-eyed, but the most notable is when "Jen's" grandmother was on her deathbed.

The last moments of her saying goodbye to her granddaughter were solemn at best, and viewers watching were forced to remember their own gran's making it even sadder.

Orange is the New Black

There is too many sad moments to choose from when it comes to the Netflix original, Orange is the New Black. Whether it be a character dying or succumbing to addiction, this whole show can make us laugh and then sob on the flip of a dime!

Most notable is when the loved character "Nicky" falls down the rabbit hole in her heroin addiction, and gets sent to solitary confinement. The others are just too sad to even mention!

Downton Abbey

Another show that's just too good at making us cry, Downton Abbey! While the death of some characters made the show unbearable at times, the true saddest moment happened to the lady's maid "Anna" in season 4 when a visiting butler raped the poor maid while everyone was upstairs viewing a concert.

Not only did the cinematography add to the heartbreaking scene, "Anna" is one of the noblest characters, so her assault hits in a way that is tragic and devastating.

The Good Place

Usually a show that just makes us laugh, The Good Place took a different direction when the characters "Chidi" and "Eleanor" realize in order to get to "the good place" they have to erase each other's memory of each other, right after they've confessed how much they're truly in love.

Taking a break from the comedy, the two are on the couch watching their best memories together before they're about to forget who the other person is was just cruel!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy The Vampire Slayer served us the best spooky drama series we could ask for, but there's one scene that sticks out as just plain sad!

When "Buffy" comes home from fighting bad guys, she finds her mother lying on the couch, and something seems off. Calling ut to her mother with no response, "Buffy" realizes her mother is dead, and the scene is just so hard to watch.
