Wonder Woman 1984 has been given a new release date yet again! As Entertainment Tonight confirmed on Friday, the superhero sequel starring Gal Gadot— which was supposed to hit theatres next month— is now officially delayed until Christmas Day.

Wonder Woman director appreciates fans' excitement

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins made a statement about the delay. "First and foremost, let me say how much Gal and I love all our devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world, and your excitement for WW84 couldn’t make us happier or more eager for you to see the movie," she said.

"Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer," Jenkins continued. "With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!"

Wonder Woman 1984 release postponed three times

Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic! The highly anticipated movie was initially slated to be released on June 5, then later pushed back until August 14. It was then given a release date of October 2, before now being bumped a few months later to December 25!

The first teaser trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 came out last September, with a brand-new trailer making its debut last month during the DC FanDome event. And while the second movie in the Wonder Woman franchise hasn't even been released yet, Jenkins has already said that she's mapped out plans for a third one! Hopefully this is the last time the release of Wonder Woman 1984 is postponed, as we're optimistic we'll still get to see it in 2020!
