• North America saw an eclipse this week
  • Many gathered to see it
  • Jimmy Fallon performed

You just had to be there to see it. Teaming up with the legendary rock band Heart, Fallon gave us a rendition of Bonnie Tyler's 1983 hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" - right in the middle of the 2024 solar eclipse! Talk about timing!

A Show-Stopping Moment

"We have a special show tonight," Fallon exclaimed, donning special glasses and a mullet that screamed '80s chic.

"Heart is our musical guest, and today is obviously the solar eclipse, so we thought we have to do what we have to do. We have to sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ with Heart, while watching the solar eclipse." And boy, did they deliver!

The performance was nothing short of spectacular, with Fallon turning around dramatically as he belted out the iconic "turn around" lyric, all while multiple shots of the eclipse added a celestial touch to the show. Fallon's commitment to the '80s vibe, complete with a left earring and those glaring lights in his eyes at the end, was the cherry on top of this nostalgic sundae.

Viewers couldn't get enough of this stellar performance, flooding YouTube with praise.

"Cool. Those eyes at the end. I love Heart! Love you to Jimmy! Great job guys!" one fan gushed. "omg this is so iconic," raved another. The performance was a hit, proving that some songs just never lose their shine.

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" has been a powerhouse of a song since its release, dominating the Billboard's Hot 100 for four weeks. Its connection to eclipses has only made it more beloved, something Bonnie Tyler herself has noted with amusement during past eclipses.
