Despite being a major character and force behind the exceptional Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. is letting fans know that "Tony Stark" is laid to rest!

The actor said that it was a monumental point in his career, but that he's okay with ending the Marvel chapter and moving on to other film projects.

No more screen time for "Tony Stark"

Robert Downey Jr. appeared on the Smartless podcast and spoke with Jason Bateman about where he sees his acting career going.

At one point, Bateman pressed Downey Jr. on his future with Marvel and asked, "I’m assuming that the Marvel thing is at a slower speed now, or are you done with that now?"

"That’s all done," Downey Jr. said with certainty.

Downey Jr. was rumoured to be appearing briefly as "Tony Stark" in the Black Widow film, which is set to be released in 2021, although these reports have had no confirmation from Disney or Marvel.

In the meantime, Downey Jr. is working on a Netflix original series titled Sweet Tooth, which is based on a comic by Jeff Lemire.
