Selena Gomez is letting her fans know why she hasn't been posting much on social media for a little while! As People mentions, Gomez posted a new video on Instagram on Wednesday, where she talks about what led to her decision to take a bit of a break.

Gomez says that she's "taken the time to learn" about current circumstances

Gomez's video was only a minute long, but it was enough time for her to explain things! "I wanted to take some time to do a quick message for you guys because I haven’t been posting that much," she said at the start of it. "I just wanted to let you know that I love you guys and I miss you and there’s so many exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to share with all of you."

"I just think at the beginning of this year, with everything going on, it felt a little insensitive to post things that may be a little just joyful or celebratory," she continued. "It was really hard for me and I’ve taken the time to learn, truly learn, about what’s going on and I continue to make that my priority." Gomez's comments come in reference to the Black Lives Matter movement, an issue that has dominated global conversation.

Gomez tells fans that she will be "a little bit more involved" online

Gomez then went on to let fans know that after gaining some perspective, she plans to become more engaged again when it comes to social media. "But, just letting you know that I’m going to be a little bit more involved and I’m just sending more love and gonna show you some more of my personal stuff and what I have been doing," she shared.

She ended her video by thanking her fans for being there to support her. "But, thank you for being here, and thank you for supporting me always and I will talk to you soon," she said.

While Gomez herself stepped away from social media for a while, she was one of the celebrities who turned over her Instagram to Black leaders! After the two weeks were over, she briefly took to Instagram to thank the "inspiring" Black individuals who had shared their voices through her platform.
