Simon Cowell has signed on for a first new event since breaking his back and undergoing surgery in August. While recovering, Cowell was away from his TV judge work and prompted concern from fans when he was unable to send in a video message even several months later. But now, he's scheduled to appear at a charity Christmas concert on Dec. 1. Read on for all the details.

Simon Cowell is making his way back to the entertainment world following a scary bike accident that occurred back in August.

This week, Cowell was confirmed as a celebrity guest at the upcoming Fayre of St. James's 2020 Christmas Concert put on by Quintessentially Foundation. It's a charity concert that will run on Dec. 1. As Hello! reported, the event is expected to be Cowell's first work since stepping away from TV in August as he recovered from surgery.

Cowell, 61, is listed as a speaker for the event, though it's unclear just what role he'll fill at this time. Previous versions of the annual concert have had the stars perform festive readings and even sing carols.

It costs €30 to attend the virtual charity event, which this year is hosted by Stephen Fry and features notable names including James Blunt, Craig David, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Ian Somerhalder.

As the event writes, the concert will "help raise critical funds for The Childhood Trust and The Felix Project, whose vital work helping the most vulnerable in our society, is needed now more than ever in these very uncertain times."

Since breaking his back and undergoing surgery in early August, Cowell has been away from judging America's and Britain's Got Talent. Fans hoped to see him on the AGT and BGT finale nights, but he was reportedly "too unwell" to appear.

Simon Cowell will return for Christmas Concert after back surgery.

After the BGT finale aired on Oct. 10, reports circulated that Cowell was to be bedridden for some time, but close sources countered by saying his recovery is going well. He'll now make a return for a great cause in two weeks' time. And while it will mark Cowell's return to entertainment, he was spotted in late October getting a new set of teeth.
