- A "small fire" was set outside Buckingham Palace
- Fortunately, the fire was extinguished and the arsonist arrested
- King Charles and the royals were away at the time
The Royal Family just can't catch a break! After the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the start of a new era for the British monarchy, as well as the revealing Netflix documentary made by Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, the members of the Royal Family certainly wish for a little rest before the holidays.
But now the next shock: An arsonist set a fire in front of Buckingham Palace. King Charles III was spending the day with his close relatives at Windsor Castle when news of the fire reached him late in the evening, according to Hello!
Arsonist arrested after lighting fire outside the Palace
Fortunately, however, the police were on the scene quickly and arrested the arsonist. As Hello! reports, the official police report states:
"Shortly after (10:08 p.m.) on Tuesday, 20 December, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after a small fire was seen near the Buckingham Palace gates.
Also interesting:
"The man has been taken into custody. The fire has been extinguished."
Good that the perpetrator was caught so quickly, because the fire certainly could have spread.
Fortunately, everything was taken care of and the Royal Family can now finally enjoy the holiday season.
