The Queen's Historic Coronavirus Speech Will Be "Deeply Personal"

Queen Elizabeth II will be addressing Britain and the Commonwealth on Sunday night at 8pm. This is only the fifth time during her reign she has made such an address in a special televised broadcast outside of Christmas and she will be urging the people to stand together as one.

Queen Elizabeth II is set to address the nation and the Commonwealth in a televised speech on Sunday night at 8pm BST. The 93-year-old monarch will reportedly be urging everyone to stand together in order to help the vulnerable by invoking a wartime spirit.

Her speech marks the first time a monarch addresses its people in a time of national crisis ever since World War II, when her father King George VI spoke to the nation over 70 years ago. A palace source, according to the Mirror, said that her speech will be "a deeply personal message from Her Majesty reflecting her experience in other difficult times".

The Queen's speech in a "time of disruption"

In what could very well be the most watched and listened-to broadcast in British history, the Queen will reportedly say the following: "I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time. A time of disruption in the life of our country: a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many, and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all."

According to sources, the monarch will also be paying a special tribute to all NHS doctors, the nurses and other medical staff as well as everyone in essential roles such as shop workers and delivery drivers.
